WILDLIFE CONTROL to release eponymous debut LP on July 31, 2012

Emerging 2012 buzz band, WILDLIFE CONTROL have set July 31, 2012 as the release date of their highly anticipated self-titled debut LP.

WILDLIFE CONTROL introduced themselves to the world last December with the anthemic lead single, “Analog or Digital”. The crisp, beat-driven track immediately drew wide ranging comparison to modern artists like Phoenix and classic bands like The Ramones.

The band followed the single by launching an interactive music video (analogordigital.wildlifectrl.com) that blurred the lines between music, technology, and community. In February 2012, they released the official “Analog or Digital” music video (youtu.be/boGyFAYomBo) that quickly amassed over 300,000 views in 3 months. Wired.com wrote “Wildlife Control has captured the spirit of the continuous and constantly evolving future of music video.”

Their eponymous LP, Wildlife Control, was recorded in studios, stairwells, parks, and bedrooms in and around Brooklyn and San Francisco. It captures performances by a cast of old friends lead by brothers Neil and Sumul Shah, who grew up in rural northeast Pennsylvania but now live on opposite coasts. According an announcement on the band’s website, “Our varied influences include western and eastern classical traditions, jazz, and classic popular music. But all of our influences are merely that, and take a backseat to an overarching sound we consider to be very modern.” The record features the brothers’ unique production and mixing aesthetic and was mastered by Joe LaPorta (The Shins, Sleigh Bells, Beach House, The National).

The full-length album comes on the heels of the band’s debut EP, Spin, which received acclaim this spring across music blogs, with multiple tracks charting in the top 10 on Hype Machine, We Are Hunted, and AmazonMP3 pop/alternative downloads.

WILDLIFE CONTROL's live show caused a stir during their packed April residency at Arlene's Grocery in NYC, with supporting tour dates in Washington D.C., Philadelphia, Boston, Chicago, and San Francisco. They will celebrate the LP release by headlining Mercury Lounge, NYC on 8/3 (ticketmaster.com/event/000048DBBD568A04).

Wildlife Control will initially be released on CD and digitally, with a vinyl release planned for fall 2012.
